Format

A 7 round Swiss tournament, involving teams of four.

Eligibility

Schools that have been advised of their qualification from each Region can have 1 team in the National Final.

Team Composition

Players must be ranked in order of known strength e.g. NZCF Rapid rating, NZCF Standard rating, or teacher estimates.

Players must stay in the same order during the event. Reserves can only play on board four.

Time Control

25 Minutes each plus 5 seconds extra per move from move one.

Scoring System

Match points, with game points used to break ties if necessary.

Prizes

The top 3 schools in each section will receive medals for each player, and the top point-scorer at each board in each section will receive a gold medal. The official trophies will be available for photos at prizegiving, but will need to be returned to NZCF in Auckland following the event.

Entry fee

$80 per qualifying team.

Acceptance of late entries after the 1st of September shall be at the discretion of the National Final Organiser, and subject to an additional $40 late entry fee.

Accommodation & Transport

We recommend private transport be arranged to the venue.

There is plenty of accommodation close to the venue such as Waipuna Hotel, and other hotels and motels in Pakuranga, Highbrook, Botany, Howick and Bucklands Beach.
